LVTC Held Training of Level 3 International Sommelier

News from News Network (Written by Zhu Ruqun, the School of Trade and Tourism Management, and photography by Yang Shihai, a retired teacher) On May 5, 2018, the four-day (senior) training class of international sommelier of Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College ended successfully. 22 students participated in the examination of level 3 international sommelier at rooms 609 and 610 of Jingze Building and finished all courses smoothly.

The training class starting on May 2 was taught by Mr. Umberto Galli Zugaro, the principal of Berlin School of European School for Sommelier. The advanced courses focused on reasonable and scientific collocation of wines and physical things and how to achieve the best fusion with foods. The training also involves with primary and intermediate courses of grape planting, grape varieties and production areas, wine tasting, wine service and so on. The training aims to promote the publicity and development of wine culture and the knowledge about scientific collocation with foods in China, and to build a team of excellent professional teachers with comprehensive quality for training high-end and respectable practitioners in the catering industry and other wine related industries. 22 teachers and students from Liuzhou Vocational and Technical College, Liuzhou City Vocational College and Liuzhou Second Vocational and Technical School attended the training course.

During the period of training, Lin Ruosen, vice president of LVTC and Wei Lin, director of Educational Affairs and Training Management Office, attended the training courses and communicated with Mr. Umberto Galli Zugaro with a warm welcome and gratitude to his teaching in LVTC, and wished him a good time in China, and sincerely hoped that LVTC could further expand exchanges and cooperation with European School for Sommelier and develop together high-end and respectable practitioners who master international standards.

In July 2017, 9 teachers from College of Trade and Tourism Management passed the examination after training and obtained the certificate of level 2 sommelier. The present advanced courses not only contain the theoretic knowledge for three levels of sommeliers, but also includes practical operation and sensory elements analysis, and the whole process of teaching and examination accords with the strict international standards. A Level-3 qualification certificate for international sommelier can be obtained after the examination results are reviewed and approved by the European School for Sommelier headquarter. Every participants felt that they have received an unprecedented increase during the training course, but this is just a beginning to become a qualified sommelier, and continuing learning, practice, summarization and accumulation are required as Learning is Always on the Way!
