From News Center (Reported/Photos by Fan Ranran from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering) The 2020 National Industry Vocational Skills Competition — Final of the 9th National CNC Skills Competition was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province from May 19 to 23 this year. After several selective competitions at the provincial level, a total of 12 teachers and students in six groups from Liuzhou Vocational and Technical College (LVTC) attended two kinds of competitions on behalf of Guangxi. Finally, the six groups won several second prizes respectively in terms of the teacher group, the staff group, and the student group of the machine tool assembly and maintenance workers (intelligent upgrading of CNC machine tools), as well as computer software product inspectors (CNC system and industrial software application technology).

The competition was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China, Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, All-China Federation of Trade Unions, and China Machinery Industry Federation, and approximately 500 contestants in the machinery circle from 31 provinces (autonomous regions and centrally administered municipalities) participated in the competition. The competition set up four contest items, involving machining center operation and adjustment workers (five-axis machining technology), machine tool assembly and maintenance workers (intelligent upgrading of CNC machine tools), computer software product inspectors (CNC system and industrial software application technology), and CNC programmers (digital design and manufacturing). Compared with previous years, the contest of the new CNC system and industrial software application technology was added, which aimed to expand the field and solve the urgent shortage issue of talent in the field of advanced manufacturing, presenting the new industry formats of transformation and upgrading in equipment manufacturing. The competition tended to be more difficult and comprehensive. The competition is divided into three groups: the staff group, teacher group, and student group. The five-axis machining technology contest is only available for a single contestant while the rest are both two-player contests.

Contestants from LVTC were strongly supported by heads and teachers of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of LVTC. They tried their best to provide strong protection for the contestants' preparation from the competition selection at the district level to the national final. During the process, Long Cairong and Lin Yuqiang participated in the teacher group contest of machine tool assembly and maintenance workers (intelligent upgrading of CNC machine tools); teachers Wei Wuxian and Zhao Zimin participated in the staff group contest of machine tool assembly and maintenance workers (intelligent upgrading of CNC machine tools); Qin Yunlong and Xie Xiuxue participated in the student group contest of machine tool assembly and maintenance workers (intelligent upgrading of CNC machine tools); Fan Ranran and Liu Fangping participated in the teacher group contest of computer software product inspectors (CNC system and industrial software application technology); Guan Laide and Gan Lin participated in the staff group contest of computer software product inspectors (CNC system and industrial software application technology); Pan Zhuanzhuan and Wang Hao participated in the student group contest of computer software product inspectors (CNC system and industrial software application technology). After serious and active preparation and fierce competition in the final, all of the six teams from LVTC won the second prize in the national final.

The National CNC Skills Competition is a far-reaching vocational skills competition of long-standing for the advanced manufacturing industry in China. Since its inception in 2004, it has been held every two years and has become an important platform for the dissemination of advanced CNC technology in China. It has played a prominent role in the cultivation and selection of highly skilled CNC talent. The competition accelerated the construction of LVTC to promote learning, training and construction through competitions, and to create a new culture that encourages all people to earn glory through labor, value skills, and hammer away at creation. The contestants of LVTC strove hard for the first place, reflecting the craftsmanship spirit of excellence and pursuit of excellence in cultivating skilled talent in LVTC. They continued to do what little one can to facilitate the "Double High-Quality Plan".
